What Ontario’s Latest Casino Data Says About Online Play

Ontario’s regulated iGaming market produced another sizeable set of numbers in June 2026, with casino games responsible for most of the activity. They accounted for the majority of both money wagered and operator revenue, giving the casino segment a clear lead over the province’s other online gaming categories.

Wagering volume, revenue and account activity each tell a different part of the story. Together, they show how prominent online casino games have become within Ontario’s regulated market.

Casino Games Account for Most Online Activity

Ontario players wagered C$8.30 billion on online casino games in June 2026, according to iGaming Ontario’s latest monthly market report. That represented 88% of the C$9.46 billion wagered across the regulated iGaming market during the month. Casino wagering was also 30.5% higher than in June 2025.

Platforms such as jackpot city online casino follow the wider digital casino model, bringing slots, table games and other formats together within one online catalogue. Ontario’s numbers show how large that part of the market can become when casino products sit alongside sports betting and poker. Almost nine in every ten dollars wagered in June went through the casino category. That leaves only a relatively small share of total handle for the other regulated verticals combined.

What Casino Handle Actually Tells Us

The C$8.30 billion figure refers to handle, or the total amount wagered. It is very different from operator revenue, which is what remains after winnings are paid out.

Across all regulated categories, Ontario recorded C$9.46 billion in wagers during June. Casino games therefore made up most of the money moving through licensed platforms, with sports betting and peer-to-peer poker accounting for the smaller remaining share.

Handle is useful for showing scale, but it does not say how much operators earned. It can also move differently from revenue from one month to the next, which is why both measures are worth considering. Revenue gives a second view of the market and prevents large wagering totals from being mistaken for operator income.

Casino Revenue Shows a Similar Pattern

Online casino gaming generated C$316.8 million in non-adjusted gross gaming revenue during June. That was 79% of Ontario’s total C$400.6 million in regulated iGaming revenue for the month and around 30.4% higher than the casino total recorded a year earlier.

The 88% share of wagers and 79% share of revenue are not meant to match. One measures the amount staked, while the other measures what operators retained. What they do have in common is that casino gaming ranks first by a wide margin under both measures.

Revenue also gives the C$8.30 billion handle more perspective. A large wagering total shows how much activity took place, while the C$316.8 million figure shows what that translated into from an operator point of view. The gap between the percentages is another reminder that market share can look different depending on the measure used.

Active Accounts Put the Market Into Context

More than 1.3 million active player accounts were recorded across Ontario’s regulated iGaming market in June, the highest monthly figure since January 2026. Average operator revenue per active account came to C$304.

Those numbers cover the whole market, not casino gaming alone. They also refer to accounts rather than individual players, meaning someone with accounts at more than one regulated operator can appear more than once in the total.

Even with those limits, the account figure adds useful context to the wagering and revenue numbers. It shows the scale of the wider digital market in which online casino games are operating rather than leaving the analysis focused only on large financial totals. It also provides a separate participation measure alongside monthly changes in wagering and revenue. Together, these measures provide a broader picture of monthly online participation.

What the Numbers Say About Ontario’s Casino Market

Casino games generated C$8.30 billion in wagers and C$316.8 million in revenue during June, while the broader iGaming market recorded more than 1.3 million active accounts.

As of 6 August 2026, iGaming Ontario listed 48 operators running 83 gaming websites, covering casino games, sports betting and poker. The number of operators and sites gives another indication of how much choice sits behind the province’s monthly totals. That breadth matters because the monthly totals are produced across a market containing dozens of separate regulated brands and product ranges.

Comparing several measures can give a more useful view of digital behaviour than relying on one headline number. That approach also applies when understanding what customers want through data, where different indicators can reveal different parts of the same picture. For Ontario, the pattern is straightforward. Casino gaming accounts for most regulated wagering and most gaming revenue, while the account and operator figures show the wider digital market supporting that activity. June’s data places online casino games firmly at the centre of the province’s regulated iGaming sector.
